MTSI is seeking a Mission Systems Software Evaluation Engineer to support software test and integration efforts in lab environments for next-generation combat systems. This role focuses on validating mission system software functionality, performance, and interoperability across various subsystems and configurations. The position supports government-led testing activities and collaborates closely with systems engineering, software development, and platform integration teams.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute software evaluations in lab settings to assess mission systems performance, reliability, and stability.
- Develop test procedures, data collection strategies, and evaluation criteria tailored to lab-based configurations.
- Coordinate with software developers, systems integrators, and test leads to troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies.
- Support integration of new software builds into lab environments and verify functionality across interface components.
- Document test results, anomalies, and findings in formal reports and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure software testing aligns with program requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and mission needs.
- Participate in technical reviews, integration readiness events, and lab architecture planning sessions.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in mission systems software test, evaluation, or integration roles.
- Proficiency in test planning, data analysis, and lab-based validation of software components.
- Experience working with DoD systems and structured test environments.
- Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, DOORS, and test automation frameworks.
- Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI.
Desired
- Experience supporting Air Force lab-based testing or platform-specific mission systems (e.g., sensors, comms, avionics).
- Familiarity with Agile software development and DevSecOps pipelines.
- Working knowledge of MBSE concepts and digital thread integration.
- Strong documentation skills and experience contributing to test readiness and formal evaluation events.
