Serve as Instructor Pilot on A-29 aircraft at Edwards AFB and potentially other CONUS locations in support of the USAF Test Pilot School (TPS). Plan, coordinate, and conduct chase, ferry, and other mission types in support of production and non-production aircraft. Create procedures and processes for MTSI operations and test support documentation. Ensure safety of flight and positive communications with external agencies based on real time operations considerations.
Responsibilities as an MTSI Pilot may include:
- Functions as Pilot-in-Command and supervises all flight air crew members.
- Performs aircrew duties per aircraft flight manuals.
- Communicates flight details and conducts pre- and post-flight briefings.
- Verifies weight & balance specifications. Determines adequate aircraft performance for all phases of flight.
- Performs as a member of an integrated team to ensure safe and efficient operation of the aircraft(s) by adhering to the principles of crew resource management and company/regulatory guidance.
- Plans and conducts inflight pilot duties of production aircraft. Directs and executes required maneuvers to verify system configuration, aircraft navigation and performance.
- Validates aircraft operation and configuration to meet approved production flight test requirements.
- Performs instructor pilot duties. Instructs pilots and engineers during upgrade, recurrent, transition, and curriculum-based training.
- Must have the ability and willingness to work with irregular hours and workdays.
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant flight test experience
- Minimum of 3 years as a test pilot
- Must meet DCMA 8210 .1D requirements and subject to GFR approval
- Job requires FAA commercial certificate (SE Land, Instrument Airplane) with the appropriate endorsements.
- Minimum of FAA Class II medical certificate.
- 1,000 hours total flight time
- Maturity and professionalism to interface with a team of discipline engineers in a Mission Control Room.
- Work well in either a team environment or independently.
- Position requires willingness to accept changing and evolving roles & responsibilities in support of customers’ requirements and need.
- Minimum of 100 flight hours in turboprop aircraft
Desired:
- Graduate of a military pilot training course.
- FAA flight instructor certification.
- Recent flying experience in A-29 or similar
Education Requirements:
Master’s degree is required.

Travel:
Approximately 10 - 25% travel may be required.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
