Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a highly skilled HMI Engineer with expertise in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and autonomous systems. This individual will play a key role in developing and integrating ground control stations and pilot-vehicle interfaces to enable semi-autonomous operations for Group 4/5 unmanned aircraft platforms. A strong background in safety-critical HMI design, usability, and human factors is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and integration of HMI/PVI solutions for semi-autonomous UAS operations.
- Ensure seamless coordination between autonomy functions and human control using best practices in human-machine integration.
- Evaluate and guide the development of multiple HMI solutions in a multi-organizational, collaborative environment.
- Support usability and human factors considerations in multi-platform deployments.
- Contribute to the evaluation of HMI systems in simulated and live operational test environments, including virtual simulation and pilot/operator-in-the-loop assessments.
- Communicate findings and recommendations effectively across teams and stakeholders through strong verbal and written skills.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
- 5+ years of experience in HMI/PVI development, preferably in safety-critical or defense-related environments.
- Demonstrated experience integrating and evaluating HMI systems in simulation and live test environments.
- Knowledge of Group 4/5 UAS operations and familiarity with civil and military aviation domains.
- Strong multidisciplinary understanding to integrate enabling technologies for human-machine interface development.
- U.S. Citizenship and an active Secret or Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
