Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Steward to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) services to U.S. Space Force (USSF) Operational Test & Training Infrastructure (OTTI) out of Colorado Springs. The candidate will lead secure and effective data operations in multi-level classified environments, including Special Access Program (SAP) and Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI), while maintaining strict compliance with applicable policies. This role requires a self-starter with strong communication skills and proven problem-solving abilities to support mission-critical data transfer and management solutions.
Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:
- Understanding and developing OTTI core business and mission processes related to data transfer
- Identifying, documenting, and analyzing data transfer requirements to support OTTI priorities
- Collaborating with OTTI and other data owners to establish data quality rules and definitions
- Applying the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) to assess and mitigate data security risks for proposed data transfer solutions
- Developing and implementing secure automated data transfer processes, including utilizing batch, real-time, and cloud capabilities
- Ensuring compliance with data classification and handling requirements
- Leading integrated project teams to curate, transfer, and manage multi-level classified data
- Creating and maintaining an accurate records system for all data transfers and authorizations
- Recommending data collection, integration, and retention requirements
- Performing secure data transfers between systems/security domains using approved methods, tools, and protocols, including manual transfers as necessary
- Troubleshooting data-related issues impacting operations, and escalating as needed
- Providing data security policy training and guidance to OTTI users
- Establishing metrics to track usability, timeliness, completeness, and accuracy of data transfers
- Facilitating the onboarding of new data sources and ensuring security policies are correctly implemented
- Inspecting data for anomalies, scanning for malware, security threats, and policy violations and addressing any issues found
- Researching and adopting advancements in technologies to include Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning for secure data transfer solutions
- Knowing laws, regulations, and policies related to AI, data security/privacy, and use of publicly procured data for government
- Developing and implementing data governance, management, standardization, and specification policies
- Acting as and following established DoD courier protocols
- Reviewing feedback on customer satisfaction and internal service performance to foster continual improvement
Qualifications
Required Experience:
- 8+ years of technical experience in data stewardship or data management
- Working with cloud, containerization, and multi-classification data handling
- Hands on SAP experience in the past 8 years
- Familiarity with applying DoDI 8510.01 and RMF to data systems
The pay range for this position in is $125,000/year to $165,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
