Eglin Air Force Base, FloridaModern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking an Information Systems Security Specialist to support the 350 Spectrum Warfare Group, 16 Electronic Warfare Squadron at Eglin AFB, FL. The candidate will be responsible for working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment supporting the initial standup and follow-on sustainment of systems supporting the combat Air Force Electronic Warfare Operational mission data development. This position has the primary responsibility of ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) of information systems and data. The candidate will be directly supporting the USAF’s operational weapon system by maintaining of unit cyber security posture as it related to CIA. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively with cross-functional teams composed of government and contractor to including industry partners, Special Program Offices, Program managers, Major Command Offices, front line operational users, engineers, developers, and analysts. The candidate will be a self-starter and have strong problem-solving, adaptability, communication, leadership, and attention to detail skills.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Candidate will be responsible for cyber security posture of systems within Secret Collateral Security, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP). The Contractor shall advise and assist the Government by providing comprehensive technical expertise in managing, securing, and maintaining organizational information systems and networks, functioning as both a System/Network Administrator and Information System Security Officer (ISSO). Responsibilities include the assessment, development, implementation, and administration of Government program-specific IT in accordance with applicable policies and procedures; ensuring the confidentiality, availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of systems through proactive security measures, such as virus protection, patching, and software updates; developing and implementing IA programs; enforcing security policies; managing user access and training; ensuring proper IT operation, maintenance, and disposal IAW established documentation; coordinating system changes; responding to security incidents; implementing and maintaining required security countermeasures; conducting audits; maintaining system logs; and establishing media control programs, while also serving as a primary point of contact for technical support, resolving customer issues, and ensuring networks perform at defined levels to effectively serve users.
Essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:
- Assist the ISSM in the review, preparation, and update of automated information systems (AIS) accreditation packages.
- Notify customer when changes occur that might affect AIS accreditation/certification.
- Identify AIS vulnerabilities and implement countermeasures.
- Represent the customer on various technical review and inspection teams.
- Ensure AIS are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with security policies and practices IAW as outlined in the approval to operate documents (ATO).
- Perform ISSO duties as directed by the ISSM or ISO.
- Review, track, and conduct user AIS training.
- Perform day-to-day maintenance of systems, including auditing and patch management.
- Perform technical security assessments of complex systems, ensuring the system is hardened to resist outside attacks.
- Identify points of vulnerability, non-compliance with established Information Assurance (IA) standards and regulations, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Support security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management for client systems guest systems and programs.
- Perform system data transfers that encompass multiple enclaves to include those with differing data protection/classification requirements ensuring CIA of the data.
- Evaluate threats and vulnerability to information systems to ascertain the need for additional safeguards.
- Evaluate security assessment documentation and provide written recommendations for security authorization to the AO.
- Assess proposed changes to information systems, their environment of operation, and mission needs that could affect system authorization.
- Provide inputs to development teams responsible for designing and developing organizational information systems and upgrading legacy systems.
- Provide system administrator support in the absence of a dedicated system administrator. Installs and update system software, apply security patches, update antivirus signatures and perform other tasks as directed by the system owner and ISSM.
- Create system accounts and provide specialized training to individual system users. Maintains local documentation for the system and users.
- Perform security system audits as required by authorization package.
- Perform data extractions and data transfers from one system boundary to another IAW approved procedures.
- Act as liaison between various system owners and provide guidance and methodologies to ensure mission accomplishment.
Required Skills:
- 7+ years of experience with IT security policies, practices, and procedures
- 5+ years of experience providing IT support for SAP and SCI information systems
- Strong ability to work in a team environment with demonstrated leadership and customer interface skills
- DoD8140 IAM Level I certification required
- Must be compliant with Department of Defense Directive 8140 IAM Level II Certification within 6 months of employment (CISSP or CISM desired)
- Experience with Cyber Systems development, sustainment, and baseline planning
- DoD, USAF, and interagency information assurance requirements with demonstrated knowledge of the RMF Process
- DoD, USAF, and interagency security accreditation procedures
- Good analytic skills, capable of network and system troubleshooting, assessment, and resolution
- Capable of operating in a demanding environment while handling multiple tasks simultaneously
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Network+ and Microsoft Certified professional (MCP) certifications desired
- System Administrator experience desired with Window and Linux, a OS certification a plus
- Knowledge of system hardening and evaluation tools such as SCAP, STIG, ACAS, NESSUS desired
- Basic IT troubleshooting skills, identifying hardware and or software failures / issues desired
- General knowledge of military platforms, systems, and operations
- Knowledge of aircraft data systems, avionic and electronic warfare systems desired
- Basic understanding of electronic testing systems such as oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, RF signal generators desired
- Knowledge of network architecture, TCP/IP, physical components, their connections, operational principles, and the communication protocols that govern data flow desired
- Basic understanding of COMSEC hardware and procedures desired
- Experience working on-site in a government client environment
Educational Requirements:
- Master’s Degree OR Bachelor’s Degree +10 years of experience in an Information Security Specialist role OR 15+ years of experience in an Information Security Specialist role
Travel Requirements:
- Routine travel is not expected but may be required based on mission requirement
Security Clearance:
- TS clearance with in-scope SSBI required
- Ability to obtain and maintain SCI/SAP/STO/NATO clearances required. Current SCI desired
- All hires will be contingent on candidate meeting requirements for and gaining required security clearances
- This position is subject to random drug testing and polygraph testing
Additional Information:
- Work will be performed at customer site on Eglin AFB – telework or remote work is not authorized
- Non-traditional work hours will be required at times
