MTSI is seeking a Ground Communications Systems Engineer to support the integration, evaluation, and sustainment of secure ground-based communications systems that enable next-generation air dominance capabilities. This role focuses on ensuring seamless interoperability between airborne platforms, mission systems, and fixed or deployable ground infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in secure communications architectures, RF systems, and mission connectivity frameworks supporting classified or DoD environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise on ground-based communications systems including line-of-sight (LOS), beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS), SATCOM, and data links.
  • Support system design reviews, integration events, and field deployments for communications infrastructure.
  • Evaluate system interoperability and ensure ground-to-air and ground-to-ground connectivity meets mission requirements.
  • Interface with cybersecurity and systems integration teams to align communications capabilities with classified network environments.
  • Develop and maintain interface control documents, configuration baselines, and system architecture products.
  • Participate in test planning, verification/validation events, and system accreditation activities.
  • Contribute to acquisition documentation and support coordination with multiple government stakeholders.


Qualifications


Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting military communications systems or ground-based infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with DoD communications standards (e.g., Link-16, SATCOM, IP-based tactical systems).
  • Experience with RF system analysis, waveform integration, and antenna/terminal configuration.
  • Understanding of secure network protocols, cross-domain solutions, and comms planning tools.
  • Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI.

Desired
  • Experience supporting USAF platform or infrastructure programs.
  • Familiarity with digital engineering tools and architecture modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with communications system testing, lab validation, or field exercises.
  • Certifications in networking (e.g., CCNA/CCNP) or communications security (COMSEC).
  • Master's degree or relevant professional certifications.
