MTSI is seeking a dedicated Core Systems Test Engineer to support the testing, validation, and analysis of critical systems for an advanced air platform program. This role will focus on ensuring the reliability, functionality, and performance of core subsystems, including avionics, communication systems, mission software, and sensors. The ideal candidate will utilize their expertise in system-level testing and evaluation to contribute directly to the success of cutting-edge defense technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Test Planning and Execution:
  • Develop detailed test plans, procedures, and scripts to evaluate system performance against program specifications and mission objectives.
  • Conduct system-level functional, integration, and performance testing for core systems, including avionics, software, sensors, and communication subsystems.
  • Initiate and execute both laboratory-based and operational flight testing activities to validate system functionality.
  • System Integration and Evaluation:
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate core systems and diagnose issues during testing.
  • Work closely with systems engineers, software developers, and program stakeholders to evaluate system interoperability and operational readiness.
  • Data Collection and Analysis:
  • Collect real-time data during testing and perform post-test analysis to derive system performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Use modeling and analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, or specialized test evaluation software to assess system functionality.
  • Troubleshooting and Reporting:
  • Identify and assess system deficiencies, working with development teams to resolve problems and improve system performance.
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports, performance summaries, and recommendations to program managers and stakeholders.
  • Compliance and Standards:
  • Ensure all test procedures comply with DoD standards such as MIL-STD specifications, RMF guidelines, and program directives.
  • Perform tests and certification activities in adherence to airworthiness and cybersecurity frameworks as applicable.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Work to streamline test and evaluation processes, improving efficiency and accuracy to support program objectives and timelines.
  • Provide input on test tools and methodologies to ensure cutting-edge capabilities are employed in the evaluation process.


Qualifications


Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in systems testing, evaluation, and integration for aerospace or defense programs.
  • Strong knowledge of system testing methodologies, including functional, integration, and performance evaluation.
  • Familiarity with test equipment and software, including data acquisition tools and platforms (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
  • Understanding of advanced aerospace systems such as avionics, sensor integration, and mission-critical software.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to cross-functional teams and program leadership.
  • Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI.

Desired
  • 12+ years of experience in systems testing, evaluation, and integration for aerospace or defense programs.
  • Certifications that validate expertise in systems testing and evaluation:
  • Certified Test and Evaluation Professional (CTEP): Industry-recognized certification for test and evaluation experts.
  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP): Reflects proficiency in systems engineering practices.
  • CompTIA Security+ or CISSP: Foundational cybersecurity certifications for testing secure systems.
  • ISTQB Certified Tester (CTFL or Advanced Level): Validates software testing expertise.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification: Process improvement knowledge for streamlining test procedures.
  • Familiarity with system integration challenges and solutions in advanced air platforms like UAVs, fighter jets, or surveillance aircraft.
  • Experience validating communication subsystems, mission software, and sensor fusion technologies.
  • Knowledge of DoD standards, including MIL-STD-810 (environmental testing) and MIL-HDBK-516C (airworthiness certification).
