MTSI is seeking an experienced Ground Systems Engineer to support the Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) program at Wright-Patterson AFB. This role is critical to advancing the Air Force’s Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) family of systems by enabling the design, development, and sustainment of ground-based systems that support manned/unmanned teaming operations.
You will lead efforts to architect and integrate secure, resilient, and interoperable ground control systems that connect autonomous and semi-autonomous platforms with mission command structures. This position provides the opportunity to contribute directly to one of the Air Force’s highest-priority modernization efforts, shaping the future of air dominance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ground Systems Design & Development: Engineer and update ground control systems that support collaborative combat aircraft and multi-domain operations.
- System Architecture & Integration: Design and integrate secure, multi-level systems enabling mission planning, data dissemination, and manned/unmanned interoperability.
- Performance & Scalability: Conduct system performance analysis, capacity planning, and resilience assessments to ensure mission effectiveness.
- Engineering Process & Assurance: Develop processes for compliance, upgrades, and threat mitigation; maintain system baselines and train users on ground system operations.
- Mission Analysis & Alignment: Ensure ground system solutions align with CCA operational concepts and strategic Air Force objectives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Air Force customers, industry teammates, and engineering teams to deliver integrated ground/air capabilities.
- Security & Compliance: Support cybersecurity audits, implement mitigations, and ensure certification/accreditation of ground systems.
- Lifecycle Documentation: Create technical documentation, including configuration records, ground system manuals, and training materials.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of engineering experience with ground control systems, mission systems, or related domains.
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Hands-on experience with RPA/UAS ground control systems (e.g., MQ-9, MQ-1, RQ-4, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, routing), secure configurations, and multi-level security systems.
- Experience with hardware/software integration in operational environments.
Desired Qualifications
- Current TS/SCI clearance.
- Familiarity with ground system integration for manned/unmanned teaming.
- Experience with Elastic, Splunk, or similar mission analytics tools.
- Knowledge of modeling, simulation, or digital engineering tools for ground/mission analysis.
- Certifications such as INCOSE CSEP, ITIL v4, or cybersecurity credentials.
- Prior experience supporting Air Force or DoD ground system programs.
Ideal Candidate Traits
- Self-motivated problem-solver with strong initiative.
- Adaptable to shifting mission needs and priorities.
