MTSI is seeking a highly skilled and experiencedDevSecOps Network Engineer SMEto support an advanced air platform program. This critical role combines expertise in secure network engineering, DevSecOps methodologies, and cutting-edge technologies to deliver resilient, scalable, and secure systems.
Responsibilities
As the DevSecOps Network Engineer SME, you will:
- Secure Network Architecture Design
- Architect and deploy secure networks for advanced air platform systems, ensuring high availability, resilience, and scalability.
- Implement zero-trust architectures, network segmentation, and high-performance solutions tailored to air platform dataflows.
- DevSecOps Integration
- Integrate secure networking solutions into DevSecOps pipelines supporting air platform development, test, and deployment environments.
- Automate network provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Cloud and Hybrid Environment Networking
- Design and maintain secure cloud and hybrid network environments that support advanced air platform systems.
- Configure Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) and enable secure communication for distributed systems.
- Cybersecurity Implementation
- Apply security controls (e.g., encryption, firewall management, secure protocols) across the network infrastructure consistent with NIST cybersecurity frameworks and RMF guidelines.
- Monitor network performance, detect vulnerabilities, and respond to incidents using security tools such as Splunk, Elastic Stack, and AWS Security Hub.
- Collaboration Across Teams
- Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, cybersecurity engineers, and operations teams to ensure the network infrastructure supports the program's mission requirements.
- Educate team members on secure networking within DevSecOps principles, fostering a culture of security and collaboration.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Networking, Cybersecurity, or related technical field; advanced degrees preferred.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in network engineering, DevSecOps practices, and enterprise-level security.
- Extensive experience with secure network designs supporting defense, aerospace, or classified systems environments.
- Proficiency with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, RMF, Zero Trust) and compliance standards.
- Hands-on experience with cloud networking solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP), container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI.
Desired
- Master's degree
- 12+ years of experience in network engineering, DevSecOps practices, and enterprise-level security.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Familiarity with NIST
- Experience supporting advanced air platforms or similar complex military systems.
- Familiarity with avionics networking protocols, mission planning systems, or flight-critical communications.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex connectivity and security issues under tight timelines.
- Confidence in presenting technical solutions to senior stakeholders and government clients.
