MTSI is seeking a skilledDesign Interface Engineer to support an advanced air platform program. This role focuses on coordinating, validating, and optimizing the integration points between system components, disciplines, and stakeholders to ensure seamless functionality and interoperability between subsystems. You will play a critical role in managing technical interfaces, addressing design challenges, and fostering collaborative solutions in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Interface Control Management:
- Define and maintain interface control documents (ICDs) that specify system boundaries, interaction points, and technical requirements.
- Ensure compatibility between subsystems such as avionics, sensors, communications, propulsion, and software platforms.
- Design Collaboration Across Disciplines:
- Work closely with systems engineers, software developers, hardware teams, and test engineers to resolve interface challenges and ensure accurate compatibility.
- Act as the liaison between engineering disciplines to facilitate efficient integration of complex systems.
- Systems Integration and Analysis:
- Conduct technical reviews and performance analysis to evaluate design integration, assess risks, and identify interdependencies.
- Simulate and validate interface designs using MBSE tools and methodologies, ensuring compliance with program requirements and industry standards.
- Documentation and Standardization:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of design interfaces, configurations, and technical solutions.
- Ensure adherence to military and aerospace standards, such as MIL-STD specifications and DoD best practices.
- Risk Mitigation:
- Identify and mitigate risks related to interface compatibility, communication bottlenecks, and integration points during the design and testing lifecycle.
- Integrated Product Team (IPT) Collaboration:
- Support IPT efforts to align technical solutions with mission outcomes, ensuring all design interfaces meet operational needs and stakeholder expectations.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of experience in design interface management, systems integration, or cross-disciplinary engineering.
- Proficiency in system modeling tools and methodologies (e.g., SysML, Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or Enterprise Architect).
- Strong understanding of subsystem interaction points, data flows, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with defense systems and technologies, particularly advanced air platforms (e.g., sensors, avionics, or communications).
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary design teams or Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI.
Desired
- 12+ years of experience in design interface management, systems integration, or cross-disciplinary engineering.
- Certifications validating expertise in design and interface engineering:
- INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) – Demonstrates mastery of systems engineering practices.
- DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) Certification – For creating defense-specific architectures.
- Certified SysML Model Builder (OCUP) – Proficiency in building system models with SysML.
- Lean Six Sigma Certification – Process improvement expertise to optimize workflows across interfaces.
- CompTIA Security+ or CISSP Certification – For secure systems integration, especially in defense applications.
